New Beginnings .. Pt I

Well, I've managed to have a little time to put together another journal update ...

Do you find that sometimes life throws a spanner into the works or on the opposite side .. pops a 'life changing' opportunity right in front of you .. which just happens to be something that you (& your partner/family) have been hoping for or thinking of doing, but it just never seems to go any further than the dream, a discussion or an idea .. 'cos life has all those other wonderfully mundane day-to-day distractions - things to get on with first .. kids, studies, the job, paying the mortgage/rent; bills to keep the roof over your head; oil for the heating to keep your toes warm; bills to keep your supply of water .. oh, & of course, not forgetting an electricity supply .. very important these days since the digital world relies so heavily on this invention ..

.. I digress ...

.. so back to the main point of this 'ere new journal .. & that was 'new beginnings', a life changing opportunity ..

This happened to a couple good friends, where an opportunity to move abroad to a new world, environs & life style to follow their dreams was laid out in front of them. They jumped at this opportunity & it looks like things are working out real well for them. I'm so chuffed for them that their new beginnings are going so, so well & it's hard to really show through words how happy I am for them both. I really wish them the best of luck in their new life & future. It's a brilliant chance for them to have such an opportunity to live for their themselves, their dreams, their music & not have to work at a job for which is just really 'a means to an end' ..

So, as a tribute .. I felt that it would be an honour to give them a mention here on dA - but since their art is music, singing & songwriting, .. they're not part of dA, thus as you might of guessed, have samples available to listen to uploaded on their MySpace Profiles. It was a little while back now, about a year & a bit, where I helped out with some photos & the design work for their profile pages .. with some of the work being design pieces for single track cd covers. Since I'm pleased with the pieces myself, I thought .. ya know, it'd be interesting to see what (if any?) feedback I might get on the designs.

Things have been real hectic of late, well .. these past few months or so!! As a result, I've not been online much .. having only now (07/10) logged on & checked me dA account!!

And .. .. the amount of deviations to view, messages to read!!

Since I'm not gonna be able to get through them in one evening or night, I'm just quickly wanting to send my apologies to all who watch my work, have visited & left message/comments, etc. & to say that I'll claw me way through the list - but may not necessarily reply to all 'cos having over 2500 deviations to view & approx 1100 messages to read - me thinks it'll take a little while (a day or three! lol)..

Seven Months ... (& counting)

Shit .. it's been seven months ... 7 whole months, approximately, since I last updated me journal blog-thingie!! So, it's time to refresh, update, start again, as it's also been just over a year since I actually signed up to dA.

doesn't time really fly when ya don't want it to!!

Time has been interesting during this period, it's been fascinating to watch the development of a brand new human being, our son Luka!! If you've had children then you'll know what I'm on about, if you haven't then you'll understand when the time arrives ...

I'm not gonna go on about how cute babies can be, since we're all aware of this (whether you've had kids of your own or not!!) ..

I'm more about how brilliant it is to see a new pair of eyes scanning everything, exploring the unknown!! All of their senses opening up to find out what's what ... like biting or should I say gumming plastic (not very tasty really!), touching or scratching soft toys or wooden surfaces, hearing the sounds of David Gilmour, Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Black Sabbath ...amongst others & the list of learning goes on & on ...

MY NEW LOOK JOURNAL ...

An all new look journal .. yippee, after a few months of just going with what dA provides, I've finally attempted to put together a css-design & all the grafix to match with my avatar design (which is what I'd intended to do in the first place)... plus I've finally gotten round to having a feature section in my journal, a dedicated space to feature others work here on dA!!

So .. let me know what ya think & hope it looks as good on your screen as it does on mine!!


OUR FIRST CHILD HAS BEEN BORN ...

Well, on the 31st August 2007, my wife & I had our first child. We didn't know all the way through the pregnancy whether it would be a boy or girl .. but finally received the wonderful news that we had a son, who is now known as Luka .. & not just as 'the baby' which he had been before the birth ...

This is why I've been unable to get anything done here on dA for a good while and especially immediately after the birth .. I've been gagging to get to update things & reply to messages, etc. I've been trying to learn how to use CSS more in web design & have been building this new journal during the last couple weeks of the pregnancy, the birth & first few weeks of our son's new life, but have just not had enough time to get things done & finished when they are started .. it's taking longer to complete stuff now 'cos I've been extremely busy with work I do .. plus the demands of a new born at any time of the day or night, plus a hectic stream of family & friends calling by or stopping with us ...

... I'm knackered & .. need to get a pint of vodka & white in to relax things a little here ..
